Pop Art Memphis 80s table lamp – Vrieland

Minimalistic designed, rare desk lamp from the 80s, made of colored metal. Designed and produced by the Dutch Vrieland. A yellow bar in Z-shape runs from the blue round base to the lampshade. The yellow rod can rotate on its axis in the base. The red baseball cap clamps onto the light source, so that it can be rotated in any desired direction.

The small fitting (e14) is suitable for LED lamps.

The Memphis style originated in the 80s in the city of Memphis. A group of designers responded to traditional design principles with bold colours, geometric shapes and playful compositions.

The Memphis style rejected the minimalism of the previous decades and embraced a maximalist philosophy. It celebrated the use of clashing colours, often in vibrant hues such as electric blue, hot pink and lime green. Memphis-style design also embraced a sense of playfulness and humor. It was inspired by pop art and contained whimsical and kitschy elements. Abstract motifs, bold patterns and cartoonish shapes evoked a feeling of joy and lightness.
