Cees Braakman designed a minimalist desk in the 60s for UMS Pastoe (the Netherlands). This desk from the allegedly Japanese series, features four black plastic knobs on the right drawer unit and four curved plywood “anti dust” drawers. The left chest of drawers has one large drawer to file folders (or a secret stash of fine wine) and a smaller “anti-dust” drawer. Each drawer unit can be locked. To access the remaining drawers, the top drawer must first be unlocked and opened. The top of this Japanese series desk is floating, and the desk may stand alone in the room thanks to the back’s exquisite teak veneering. The Japanese series is another name for this furniture with a simple sleek design.
